To All Concerned:

It has come to our attention that some very old false information has resurfaced about our family and Caritas of Birmingham and its founder, Terry Colafrancesco, also known as A Friend of Medjugorje. We are writing now to refute that old information which is being used to mislead others by making this old information seem current. We feel that this is very wrong and corrupt and that an evil is being perpetrated.

One example is the passing off of this 11-year-old information as current information to lead people to reject Caritas as with our meeting with Fr. Svetozar Kraljevic. It was through my wife and I meeting with Medjugorje priest, Fr. Svetozar, who later put out his statement against Caritas, that we then helped spread this false information. We also contacted Cardinal Stafford and others, along with newspapers, for the same purpose. There was a concerted effort by others to do the same. We want to publicly state that we refuted, years ago, these lies we worked to spread with others to bring down Caritas and its founder. We recanted our slanders against Caritas after realizing we were duped by people who had an agenda to destroy the reputation of the founder of Caritas and its mission, falsely portraying Caritas as a cult. Those who therefore continue to spread this information commit a grave wrong and their motives should be questioned.

To be clear, my wife and I were used and coerced by others who were trying at that time to destroy the mission of Caritas and its founder. We regret all the actions on our part and we have separated from all of these people.

We have a wonderful relationship with our two daughters who live at Caritas, and we visit them and their families often. We are treated with kindness by all of the community members. They are committed to the mission of Caritas and bringing others to conversion. We do not want what we have said or done in the past to stand in the way of anyone's conversion through Caritas' guidance and writings or prevent them from going on pilgrimage to Medjugorje with Caritas of Birmingham. We encourage you to do so in order to experience the peace that Our Lady promises.
Please pass this letter on to all those who are using our 'old information' to damage the mission of Caritas and its founder, Terry Colafrancesco. God bless you.
